The former frontman of Lostprophets, Ian Watkins, 36, has pleaded guilty to attempted child rape and admitted to trying to rape a baby. He admitted to a string of other sex crimes as well.
During a video chat, he sexually abused 1-year-old baby and urged one of his fans to do the same. Before his trial started, he saved the jury from seeing the "extremely graphic and distressing" video – which the judge called it – by changing his plea to guilty.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Watkins pleaded guilty at Cardiff Crown Court in Wales on Tuesday, being charged with 11 counts of sex crimes. He will be sentenced next month.
Watkins, whose band announced they would be splitting last December after his arrest, was initially accused of 20 counts of sexual offenses, USA Today reports. Some of those charges included conspiring to sexually assault a child and making indecent images.
Lostprophets were formed in 1997 and have sold millions of albums worldwide. Their 2006 album Liberation Transmission topped the charts.
