Brian, the dog from Seth MacFarlene's, Family Guy was killed off in last night's episode.

Brian the talking dog, was a major character on Family Guy, and he appeared on every single episode since the pilot.

According to E! News,, executive producer, Steve Callaghan says about Brain's death, "Well, this was an idea that got pitched in the writers room and it sort of caught fire, and we thought it could be a fun way to shake things up. As soon as this idea came up, we started talking about what the next couple episodes could be and we got very excited about the way this change wil affect the family dynamics and the characters."

Fans were in shock that the creators decided to kill off a key character. Brian has been on the show for 11 seasons. He died after he was hit by a car. Brian's pal, the baby, Stewie Griffin tried to bring him back with his time machine. He planned on going back in time to reverse the accident but he had already dismantled the machine earlier in the episode.

TMZ reports that Brian was replaced by a new dog named Vinny, who is voiced by 'Sopranos' star, Tony Sirico.
