Mariah Carey is opening up about her famous feud with Nicki Minaj when they hosted Fox's American Idol together. "The Art of Letting Go" singer told New York radio station Hot 97 that working with the female rapper "was like hell."
"Honestly, I hated it. ... It was like hell. Going to work every day in hell with Satan," she said. Both Carey and Minaj quit after one season.
"I thought it was going to be a three-person panel," she added, Today.com reports "They gave me a nice dangling monetary moment, and I was just like, 'OK! ... This isn't a big deal This will be nothing!'"
Carey also admitted she was "disappointed" in the process of choosing singers, saying producers would "for political reasons, not put people through."
With the experience behind her, she's back to doing her own thing and seems to prefer it that way. I liked being in the studio better and going on my own tours. So we're going back to that," she said.
Keith Urban is the only returning judge for Season 12. Jennifer Lopez will also return this season, and newcomer Harry Connick Jr. has signed on as well. The new season starts Jan. 15.
