New York Times media reporter Brian Stelter is the latest to join CNN and will host the network’s Reliable Sources, the program previously anchored by Howard Kurtz.
The Los Angeles Times first reported last night that Stelter was in advanced talks with CNN. Stelter had been working for the NY Times since 2007, covering television, media and the entertainment industry. He will have the same role for CNN.
According to Politico, both the NY Times and CNN later issued statements confirming the news on Tuesday morning. Stelter is expected to host Reliable Sources and contribute to CNN.com.
Stelter also shared the news on Twitter. “I've been at the @nytimes since college so it's surreal to be leaving. I've learned everything here,” he wrote. “To my colleagues: thank you.”
I'm joining @CNN as the network's senior media correspondent and the host of "Reliable Sources."

Kurtz officially left CNN in June shortly after apologizing for a mistake in a Daily Beast column. He’s since joined Fox News.
Stelter is the latest hire for CNN President Jeff Zucker, who has made attempts to save CNN’s low ratings, including reviving Crossfire.
