Matt Flynn came into the game for the Packers after Scott Tolzien started and got the job done, almost.
Flynn brought Green Bay back from a Vikings 16-point fourth-quarter lead and the rally ended in a 26-26 tie. The Packers backup threw for 218 yards and a touchdown but that didn't really get the team's hopes up after their fourth game in a row without a win since the loss of Aaron Rodgers.
"It's an empty feeling. You go out there and didn't lose the game," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. "But you feel like you didn't accomplish what you set out to do."
According to ESPN the Vikings were not exactly ecstatic about the tie either.
"I view it as a loss, personally. We gave up a 16-point lead in the fourth quarter," said Jared Allen. "I don't have a sister, but I'm going to say it's like going to prom with your sister."
Neither team could find their way into the end zone in overtime as both had to take field goals. USA Today reports that Mason Crosby hit one from 20 yards out for the Packers and Blair Walsh nailed one from 35. That was the last score of the game before time ran out in the OT period.
The Packers are still looking good in the NFC North race, but that's not enough for Clay Matthews.
"No. We expect to be leading this division, you know?" Matthews said. "We're keeping our head above water right now. We're treading water, and hopefully, we can find that shallow end after this Thursday."
