Sandra Bullock has been chosen to receive the Desert Palm Achievement Award for Acting at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in January 2014.

In its 25 year, the film festival will run from January 3 to 13, and Bullock is due to receive the award on the second day, January 4, according to Variety.

A statement from festival Chairman Harold Matzner The Hollywood Reporter posted, he said, “Sandra Bullock is the epitome of cinematic talent and versatility.” He goes on to talk about Bullock’s role in Gravity in which he calls her performance “masterfully portrayed” and throughout Bullock’s career she, “continues to captivate the audience with her artistry.”
Past recipients of the same award include Halle Berry, Marion Cotillard, Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron, Naomi Watts and Michelle Williams.

The Palm Springs International Film Festival announced previously that Dallas Buyers Club star Matthew McConaughey is set to receive the Desert Palm Award, Actor this year as well.

Oscar buzz has been surrounding both Bullock and McConaughy for their performances, as well as both films.
