Paramount TV is aiming to bring the Patrick Swayze movie Ghost to the small screen and has hired Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman and Jeff Pinkner to help work on the pilot.
According to Deadline, both will co-write the pilot script.
The script will be based off the Oscar-winning 1990 film, which won for best original screenplay and supporting actress. The movie was nominated for several others.
Paramount TV president Amy Powell said, "We are thrilled to collaborate with Akiva and Jeff, two deeply creative and accomplished talents, on the television adaptation of this classic supernatural drama."
The Hollywood Reporter notes that Paramount TV was started as a way to adapt properties Paramount already owns and original shows for TV. Powell previously had a pilot developed for CBS based off the studios popular Beverly Hills Cop, but the show was ultimately scrapped.
Pinkner has previously worked on TV with Fringe and Alias. Goldsman wrote scripts for several movies, including I Am Legend and Batman Forever, and wrote some episodes of Fringe.
