Prince Harry, True Blood actor Alexander Skarsgård, and 300 actor Dominic West are making the final preparations for their race to the South Pole, which begins later this month.
According to TMZ, Harry, Alexander, and Dominic will each lead a separate team 208 miles through the subzero Antarctic terrain in a race to the South Pole for the charity Walking with the Wounded. The teams should reach their destination in about three weeks – around December 17.
The three men have been training with polar guide Inge Solheim, practicing ice climbing, skiing and hiking around the world. Scarsgård has been training in the Santa Monica Mountains and in Norway, while Harry and Dominic put their skills to the test in Iceland.
Hello! Magazine reports that the three teams will begin in Novo, Antarctica where they will take a few days to acclimate and prepare.
The Walking with the Wounded charity raises funds to donate to wounded veterans across the globe, and several members participating in the trek will be veterans who were injured either physically or mentally in the line of duty themselves.
Prince Harry has participated in Walking with the Wounded treks in the past. In 2011, he traveled to the North Pole for five days, and in 2012, he was a patron of the Everest Expedition.
