Last night’s episode of Ravenswood proved that apparently you can die from being scared to death and sometimes a dream is never what it may seem…

It turns out that Caleb can appear to Miranda when he dreams, which actually turns out to be a good thing by the end of the episode. Miranda thinks she’s in heaven with her parents and this cute, little girl named, Max, but that could not be further from the truth. The box given to Caleb by Henry (the original Caleb’s younger brother) turns out to be pretty useful as it contains pictures and a blueprint of the old savings and loan department of what used to be the town’s bank. Caleb recognizes one of the pictures in the box as the same room that Miranda is staying in. He and Remy believe that Henry will know where to find that house, which contains the room, but that was really wishful thinking on their part…

It turns out Henry is dead. The cause of his death? Being scared to death…literally. Caleb goes in search of Miranda’s parents old house in the hopes of finding Miranda after getting the address from none other than Mrs. Grunwald (that woman knows all).

Dillon (Olivia’s boyfriend) stops by Olivia’s house and turns out to be quite the detective when he helps Olivia decipher that draw out of the old savings and loan basement. However, his motives are anything but noble…

Caleb finally talks to Hanna on the phone. She wants to come see him, but Caleb convinces her to make reservations at a restaurant in Rosewood instead, promising her that he will be coming home.

Remy and Luke are still on the fence after Luke told her that he kissed Tess, which led to him sort of, kind of breaking up with her. However, in a time of need, Remy knows she can always count on Luke to be there. Much is the case when Remy’s excessive sleepwalking takes her to the basement of the old savings and loan. Luke, Olivia, and Caleb come to her rescue. In the blueprint, the basement contained another room, which Luke discovers. Taking a sledgehammer, he begins to knock down the brick, barring them from the secret room. But that room is hidden for a reason…

Ray is in the cemetery appearing to dig up Miranda’s coffin and after succeeding, cuts a piece of her hair.

The quartet find two skeletons in the hidden room and discover that the two people sacrificed their lives in the hopes that the original Miranda and Caleb would be brought back to life after having died on their wedding day and reverse the curse. Now it seems that Miranda and Caleb are “The Chosen Ones”. There is a reason that two of them look exactly like their dead relatives. They also stumble upon a picture of an old sawmill house and believe that that is where Miranda may be.

The four travel to the house and come face to face with Max, the not so sweet and very much evil, little girl. The old clock is still ticking as it chimes three o’clock. The lights flicker and the candles are lit. It turns out that Max was the one who brought them to the house. Caleb refuses to leave without Miranda and goes upstairs to find her, which he does. Caleb remembers the secret exit in the back of Miranda’s closet.
Miranda doesn’t want to leave having believed that she finally has her parents back. However, a simple test proves that Caleb is right and Miranda’s “mother” is not actually her mother. Miranda escapes, but Caleb is knocked out of the room, resulting in a deadly fall.

Caleb wakes up in the yard. Miranda is there to help him up. Caleb is amazed by the fact that he can feel Miranda and thinks she was somehow brought back to life, but in reality, he can feel her because at the moment, he is just like her…dead. Remy’s theory that the original Miranda and Caleb were brought back to life to reverse the curse turns out to be very much true because “dead” Caleb doesn’t want to leave Miranda, but Miranda knows it’s not his time just yet, but they will be together again when the time is just perfect. Caleb is brought back to life in the hospital where Remy, Luke, Olivia, and Dillon are waiting.

Ray puts the piece of Miranda’s hair in a jar and Mrs. Grunwald tells him, “they’re still alive”…

Dillon offers to get coffees for everyone and leaves the room. By the coffee machine, Dillon watches Max walk by and follows her. His true identity is somewhat revealed when it turns out that he and Max are working together (this totally has me baffled) and we learn that, “He’s going to be very unhappy”.

Max stands in the cemetery as crows circle above her. She holds out her arm and a crow perches itself on it.

- How do Dillon and Max fit into all of this?
- Who is the “He" that Dillon speaks of?
- Clearly Ray and Mrs. Grunwald know what’s going on, but can they really be trusted?

Ravenswood will return for its winter premiere on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 9 p.m. on ABC Family.
