Simon Cowell's 'X Factor,' 'Britain's Got Talent' renewed for three years

TV network ITV renewed X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent in a lucrative deal for creator Simon Cowell, which would allow him to appear on both shows.

According to the The Hollywood Reporter the three year deal would continue to have the talent shows through 2016. A clause in the deal requires Cowell to appear on one show, but also has opened the door for Cowell’s return on X Factor allowing him to appear on both shows.

Variety reports the network inked the three-year pact, which is reported to be worth £150 ($241 million), with Cowell’s shingle Syco Entertainment and co-producer FremantleMedia.
With ratings down of the U.S. version of X Factor the future of the show may be in question. Apparently, the U.K. version as well has seen a dip in ratings, down 1 million viewers, although still going strong now in its 10th season.

Cowell stated that his thrilled with the deal and of ITV ,”they have been fantastic partners and we have some exciting new plans to take the shows to the next level.”
