The cast for SyFy’s 12 Monkeys pilot has been growing over the past few days, as the network pushes forward with plans to adapt Terry Gilliam’s 1995 science fiction film for the small screen.
12 Monkeys got the pilot order in August and it was written by Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett (Terra Nova). Universal Cable Productions and Atlas Entertainment are co-producing the 60-minute pilot.
Earlier this month, Deadline reported on the first actors to join. Nikita veteran Aaron Stanford was cast in the lead role of Cole, a time traveler from a post-apocalyptic future who comes to the present to try to stop his future. Amanda Schull (Suits) also joined at the time.
Then, last week, Deadline confirmed that Noah Bean, who also appeared on Nikita, was joining. Željko Ivanek of Damages came on board at the time as well.
Today, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that former Fringe star Kirk Acevedo has joined and will play a supporting part as Cole’s closest friend. Acevedo is probably the highest profile star to join the project so far, as he’s also appeared in The Thin Red Line, Person of Interest, Oz and Prime Suspect. He just started a recurring stint on The Walking Dead.
