Terrance Howard accused Robert Downey Jr. of being the reason that he did not return for the Iron Man sequels as James Rhodes and was eventually replaced by Don Cheadle.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Howard answered a question about his role in Iron Man while promoting his latest movie The Best Man Holiday while on Watch What Happens.

Back when Howard was originally replaced, it was reportedly over a salary dispute. "The person that I helped become Iron Man, when it was time to re-up for the second one, took the money that was supposed to go to me and pushed me out," Howard said. He never mentions Downey by name during the interview.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, he also said, "They came to me [for] the second and said, 'We will pay you one-eighth of what we contractually had you for, because we think the second one will be successful with or without you.'"

Howard added, "And I called my friend that I helped get the first job, and he didn't call me back for three months."

In an interview earlier this year, Howard described his ejection from the franchise as "killing my career."

Howard can be seen in The Best Man Holiday, which is out in theaters this weekend.
