Zach is a teen on his own, both parents gone, and in a strange town. Actually, it's the town where he grew up but his mother took him away for reasons unknown to him 10 years earlier. At 17 he is back, undercover and alone. Why did his mom whisk him away from this affluent place? What is the girl alluding to in the diary he's found and keeps hidden? Is there really a conspiracy surrounding the entire town or did his mother's paranoia rub off on him? Why did he have to change his name?
These questions and more will be answered as you read The League of Delphi, the first book in the Delphi Trilogy. The chapters are short and the movement is extremely quick. While it is no Harry Potter, it does make for page turning action and a believable story.
There is one thing about the book that may cause some people concern; it's written in the present tense. That sort of writing always takes my mind out of the story and therefore detracts from the reading. But, if that isn't a pet peeve of yours, you will enjoy this book very much and look forward to the next to see what happens to Zach. Will he find the answers he so desperately needs?
