The Simpsons paid homage to the late Marcia Wallace, who voiced Edna Krabappel on the long-running Fox series.

The new episode on Sunday, titled Four Regrettings and a Funeral, opened with Bart standing in front a message written on the blackboard stating "We'll really miss you Mrs. K." Wallace’s character was their schoolteacher on the show.

Wallace passed away at the age of 70 last month from complications from pneumonia. She won an Emmy for her role on the show back in 1992.

According to The BBC, in Wallace’s time on the show, her voice was heard in a total of 178 episodes.

Before Four Regrettings and a Funeral aired on Sunday, Fox replaced their regularly scheduled American Dad episode with a Simpsons episode that featured Edna Krabappel in the main storyline.

EW noted before it aired that they would air “The Ned-Liest Catch,” which features Edna getting suspended from school and starting to date Ned Flanders. “Technical issues” prevented them from airing the Emmy-winning “Bart the Lover” episode.
