The Weinstein Company has picked up the BBC crimes series Peaky Blinders for U.S. TV and Video-on-Demand.

The deal with distributor Endemol is for the first three series, with possibility for more, Deadline is reporting.

Harvey Weinstein said, "We have always been big fans of Stephen Knight's work and are extremely excited to bring this show stateside, where it's sure to thrill audiences just as much as it did in the U.K."

The BBC crime drama recently completed its first series on BBC Two. The series was created by Stephen Knight and stars Cillian Murphy and Sam Neill.

According to Variety, Peaky Blinders averaged 2.4 million viewers and increased the market share during its run by 13.3 percent. The second series is set to begin production in January.

Peaky Blinders also stars Helen McCrory and Annabelle Wallis and is set in 1919 Birmingham. The series follows the Shelby family that run the Peaky Blinders gang. They are so nicknamed due to sowing razor blades into the peaks of their caps. They decide to up their game from simple illegal bookmaking, black market and protection rackets to guns after a supply of them go missing at a guns factory.
