In a lawsuit defending his parenting skills, Tom Cruise writes he never “abandoned” his daughter with Katie Holmes, Suri Cruise.
The Mission Impossible star states in the lawsuit that despite a busy filming schedule, he remains close to his daughter. The $50 million lawsuit is in response to InTouch’s "Abandoned by Daddy" headline.
Even though he was filming two movies when the headline ran, he explained, "As my numerous emails with Suri's mother during this time period demonstrate, I was a constant presence in Suri's life,” TMZ reports.
He also stated, "I have in no way cut Suri out of my life -- whether physically, emotionally, financially or otherwise. Even during the times when I was working overseas and was not able to see Suri in person, we were (and continue to be) extremely close."
Cruise said of his divorce from Holmes that he “wasn’t expecting it” at all. However, he maintains he still talks to their daughter regularly.
"While I'm sure my daughter misses me when I am not with her (as I miss her), she is a very happy child, and we have a wonderful relationship and cheerful phone calls,” he said.
