It is hard to think about Friday nights and not look back fondly on TGIF, after all it’s no secret, the 90s rocked. From the music to the hair to the television shows, the 90s are memorable.

The Adventures of Pete & Pete, GUTS to Family Matters” and many more shows made the 90s a golden age for television. 30-minute sitcoms ruled the television airwaves and brought families closer together, even addressed a few social issues. Everyone has a favorite show from the 90s, whether it be a game show, scary show or comedy, the TV airwaves had something for everyone.

TheCelebrityCafe.com counted down the top ten television shows that made the 90s remarkable and hilarious. The 90s are going to even make a comeback as it was recently announced that Boy Meets World would be getting a spin off show, “Girl Meets World.” Long live the 90s.

10. The Adventures of Pete & Pete

Nickelodeon was founded back in December of 1977 but in the 90s, Nickelodeon was one of the largest television studios around and produced hit show after show. Pete & Pete was hilarious and featured surreal elements. The show centered on two brothers both named Pete Wrigley. What happens when friends, family and enemies collide results in a great family comedy.

9. Legends of the Hidden Temple

Legends of the Hidden Temple was a game show produced by Nickelodeon that every kid wanted to be a part of it. The show had contestants make their way through a temple that was filled with lost treasures.

8. GUTS

Do you have it? GUTS! This live action and interactive TV game show were featured contestants competed in physical tasks in order to win a large prize pack. The show was also produced by Nickelodeon and was a great game show.

7. Are You Afraid of the Dark

This show was downright scary. Are You Afraid of the Dark was a joint Canadian-American production which resulted in the very famous horror/fantasy show. Which scared fans every night.

6. Step by Step

TGIF on ABC was a great reason to look forward to Friday. TGIF featured a variety of shows including Step By Step which was the story of a large blended family. The show ran for seven series.

5. Clarissa Explains it All

Melissa Join Hart got her start on Clarissa Explains it All. The show centered on a teenage girl who addressed the audience directly to describe the things that were happening in her life.

4. Full House

This show launched the careers of John Stamos, Bob Saget and even Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. The show was set in San Francisco, and showed the struggles of widowed father, Danny Tanner, who gets some help from his two best friends, Joey Gladstone and his brother-in-law Jesse Katsopolis in order to raise his three daughters.

3. Saved By The Bell

It is hard to remember Saved By The Bell and not think about a young Mario Lopez. Bell follows the exploits of a group of friends and their principal. The show showcased light-hearted comedy situations and even some social issues.

2. Family Matters

The original concept for the hit TGIF show, Family Mattesr did not feature Steve Urkel. Midway through the debut season, Urkel was introduced and he quickly became the breakout character.

1. Boy Meets World

The opening chords of this TV theme song are known around the world. Boy Meets World melted the hearts of fans everywhere who instantly connected with Cory Matthews. This show was also a part of TGIF and is even finding a new home with a spin off show, Girl Meets World.
