Let’s face it Miley Cyrus is everywhere. With her renowned VMA performance, to her constant public appearances and twerk-tastic behavior she’s basically becoming a worldwide sensation. Cyrus recently announced her upcoming Bangerz which is sure to please fans with outrageous and otherworldly concert experiences. Before the tour, the pop star will headline for the first ever Jingle Ball tour before kicking off the well-awaited Bangerz tour this winter.
Over the years, Miley Cyrus has managed to maintain her fantastic fan-base as she has evolved into the artist she is today. In celebration of all things Miley, The Celebrity Cafe has decided to count down the top ten Miley Cyrus performances. From Hannah Montana, to untamable teen, to the Queen of Twerk, Miley’s been bringing it for years. Here are her best performances yet.
10)The Disneyland Christmas Parade, “All I Want for Christmas is You”
This is some vintage Miley, and I can’t help but love it. Though this is the polar opposite of the pop star we know today, we really can’t forget her adorable roots. Cyrus was a born performer, and she killed this Christmas classic.
9)Dallas Cowboys Stadium 2009, “Before the Storm”
Some of my inner teenage fangirl may have leaked into this list, but when Miley and Nick were an item all was right in my world. “Before the Storm” is a magical duet between the two teen heartthrobs. Would you look at that chemistry? I wouldn’t hate a reunion.
8)AOL Sessions 2009, “Butterfly Fly Away”
A touching father daughter performance of the Hannah Montana Movie classic, “Butterfly Fly Away” is downright adorable.
7)Live Concert for Hope, “The Climb”
“The Climb” was one of Miley Cyrus’s most popular songs. This performance is particularly special because it’s just so precious. Cyrus has always connected with her fans and this concert was in support of a beautiful cause.
6)Backyard Sessions-"Look What They’ve Done...”
The Backyard Session performances took place intermittently in Miley’s career. A series of songs were recorded intimately in her backyard. This is a rendition of Melanie Safka’s original song.
5)SNL 2013, “We Can’t Stop” Acoustic
The party pump up song gone slow is surprisingly enjoyable. The acoustic performance of “We Can’t Stop” may seem to contradict the lyrics but regardless it’s vocally impressive.
4)Jimmy Kimmel Live, “You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go”
Featuring Johnzo West, Miley’s tribute to Jon Lennon with her performance on Jimmy Kimmel completely showcased her vocal strength. Stylistically, I think this song is raw, and heartfelt. Performances like this one prove how versatile the pop star can be.
3)Ellen Degeneres 2013,"Wrecking Ball”
Ellen performances are always the best, I’m assuming because everyone’s in a great mood there. Shortly after being questioned about her break up with Liam, Miley got on stage and delivered a beautiful performance of “Wrecking Ball”
2)MTV VMA’s 2013, “We Can’t Stop”
This is the performance that started an uproar. Though risque, and a little bit raunchy Miley’s VMA performance went down in history. Despite the public criticism it was clear based on this performance that Miley is back, and in a big way. I find it quite impressive that the pop star managed to create a commotion that was talked about for months.
1) Backyard Sessions-"Jolene”
Another Backyard Session hidden gem, that highlights the immense vocal talent Cyrus obviously possesses. This rendition of “Jolene” gives me chills and Cyrus is completely invested in the song. This is my favorite performance of Miley’s simply because it’s vocally astounding and extremely emotional.
