This holiday season is sure to be one of a kind because...two holidays have collided! This month, on November 28th Thanksgiving Day, Hanukkah will also begin. With this, the internet sensation and celebration collaboration known as Thanksgivukkah has been created.
The holiday, which won’t happen again for another 70,000 years has been getting some serious attention from the media. Because both Thanksgiving and Thanksgivukkah both originated in Massachusetts, the city of Boston has had the holiday in mind for quite some time.
Unknown to most, the concept of the hybrid holiday has been in the works for about two years. Dana Gittell, a marketing specialist from the Boston area apparently coined the term Thanksgivukkah in 2011 when she was peering at the future Jewish calendar. Gitell is the owner of the trademark, along with the Twitter account and domain reports Time.
According to Time Boston Mayor, Thomas Menino plans to pronounce Nov.28 as “Thanksgivukkah Day” presenting the modern holiday with the opportunity for lifetime legacy.
In celebration of two equally awesome holidays the internet has provided a plethora of happy holiday recipes, decorations, games, and clothing commemorating this special day.
