The Top 5 Worst Black Friday Incidents

Black Friday is one of the most ironic days of the year. A mere 24 hours after expressing our gratitude for our livelihood, our loved ones, and our privileges we storm to the malls like savages hungry for material goods at the lowest prices possible. Black Friday attracts hoards of fans equivalent to the masses of teenage girls that flock to Justin Bieber’s tour bus. Shoppers wait outside in the rain, make camps on the sidewalk, and behave inhumanely to score the cheapest television set at Best Buy.

Black Friday is just what it’s name entails, a dark day, so dark that often people are blinded of basic, acceptable humane action. This dark holiday has generated a celebration of greed and consumerism and that often results in dangerous situations. Before you shop at the break of dawn this year, keep in mind that you are shopping at your own mercy, and try to keep in mind your safety and the safety of others this holiday season. Here is a list of the top 5 worst Black Friday incidents.

5)Stabbing Threats in K-Mart

An angry customer threatened to stab fellow shoppers in line in a Sacramento K-Mart. Despite not fulfilling his threat, he frightened many other customers and incidents like this are unfortunately not surprising on the biggest shopping day of the year.

4)Wal-Mart Pepper-sprayer

Wal-Mart seems to be the place to avoid on this dark shopping day. In 2011, a southern California woman admitted to pepper-spraying other customers in the video-game department of Wal-Mart. 10 people were sprayed in this outrageous act.

3)Grandfather beat by police

In a Wal-Mart Black Friday incident a grandfather was beaten to the ground by police for shop lifting. The man was suspected of stuffing a video game down his pants, to which police responded aggressively beating the elderly man’s face until he bled. Horrifying.

2)Wal-Mart Stampede

In 2008 a Black Friday stampede took place at a Long Island Wal-Mart leaving a man trampled to death, and a pregnant woman thrown to the ground resulting in a carriage. Shoppers who witnessed the seen claimed they feared for their lives. That smiley face logo that Wal-Mart affiliates with seems pretty confusing right now.

1)Toys R Us Shooting

In a West Coast Toys R Us a Black Friday shopping trip turned into a horrifying nightmare. A brawl between two female customers led to an armed confrontation between their husbands who both pulled guns. The two customers engaged in a full fledged shoot out in the store, exchanging enough fire to lead to both of their deaths. The entire store erupted in a frantic chaos, and many lives were left scarred from this careless incident.

Before embarking on a Black Friday journey be prepared for the wrath of the massive crowds of angry coupon clippers. Stay safe shoppers! (and stay away from Wal-mart)
