Emerson College in Boston is receiving a rare gift from actor and comedian Will Ferrell. According to Rolling Stone Emerson’s School of Communication will be undergoing a temporary name change to the Ron Burgundy School of Communication in honor of Ferrell’s Anchorman persona.
On December 4th, the 24-hour Ron Burgundy School of Communication will receive a special visit from it’s namesake. Will Ferrell is scheduled to visit the university in his journalist character and a news conference will be held in which the character will offer students journalistic advice.
The university’s president, Lee Pelton made a statement on the school’s website about the event writing, "A visit from Ron Burgundy is a chance to engage with someone who understands the power of media, as well as hairspray, first-hand” reports Rolling Stone.
Burgundy himself commented on his appearance and the honor, "I had to pinch myself really hard when I learned that Emerson College was naming its School of Communication for me. It’s kind of a big deal. I can't wait to inspire students with my story of how I got to the top . . . the very top. I'm not going to sugarcoat it. It's a lot of work, especially if you don't have good hair."
Along with the conference the students at Emerson will also be treated with an early screening of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues reports Fox News.
The lucky students at Emerson University will be graced with the presence of the fictional journalistic god from 11:00 a.m. on December 4th at an official naming ceremony. It looks like even great academics can admit that Ron Burgundy is “kind of a big deal.”
