A year after the first season debuted on Netflix, the second season of the acclaimed political drama House of Cards will premiere in February, the streaming service said today.
Netflix made the announcement on the show’s Facebook page, confirming that the show will be available starting on Feb. 14, 2014. It was accompanied by a 30-second black and white teaser that only showed star Robin Wright smoking a cigarette, with the date showing up at the end.
House of Cards stars Kevin Spacey as a South Carolina Congressman plotting to take power in Washington, with Wright playing his wife. Kate Mara plays journalist Zoe Barnes. Other members of the cast include Michael Kelly, Kristen Connolly, Sakina Jaffrey and Corey Stoll.
Netflix posted all 13 season one episodes when the show premiered this past February and will do the same for season two. It is a member of Netflix’s growing roster of original programming, which includes the fourth season of Arrested Development, Lilyhammer and Orange is the New Black.
Despite being nominated for several Emmys, including Outstanding Drama, the show only won one award. David Fincher won for directing the pilot episode. He is also an executive producer on the show.
