In the wake of defeat from the election, Adam and Kristina dive into what would have been her celebratory cake, and even start a food fight with each other.
Sarah gets bombarded by tenants about the heat in the building. Carl interrupts the tenants and demands Sarah come to his apartment for a problem, but he admits there isn’t any problem, he was trying to save her from the tenants. He offers her a glass of wine.
Julia goes downstairs to talk to Joel who has decided to sleep on the couch. Julia apologizes for her yelling at him, and at Peet. Concerned and worried, she convinces Joel that they need to try to get past this for their family.
Sarah and Carl talk at Carl’s when the lights go out. A bit confused as to what to do, Carl offers to flip the switch on the breaker for $10. As Sarah starts to playfully argue with him stating she can do it, Carl leans in and starts kissing her.
Amber walks into the Luncheonette, seeing the band and profusely apologizes about what happened to the drummer, Zach. Oliver is upset that they lose time in the studio because of Zach’s hand, and Adam tells Amber that he and Crosby want to talk to her.
Drew brushes his teeth in the dorm bathroom and his roommate drops the bomb that he saw Natalie with some other guy the night before. Drew tells him that they are just friends with benefits, and the roommate states it seems like she’s giving benefits to all her friends.
Walking the line between employer and uncles, Crosby and Adam talk to Amber and make sure that she’s OK, and has her promise them that if he’s ever violent toward her, that they let them know. Adam states that for now, Ryan is not allowed to come to the Luncheonette.
Heather is cleaning up her belongings at the former campaign office, leaving it a living room again. She tells Kristina that she really believed in her and thought she would have made a great mayor.
Joel surprises Julia and the kids by coming home early to make homemade pizza with them. Julia appreciates his effort.
Amber comes home to Ryan and tells him everything that happened at work that day. They begin to argue and Ryan asks what will happen with their relationship. Amber says that she feels that they are lost and says she needs time to figure out if they can still be together.
Sarah runs into Carl, but quickly goes back into her apartment.
Drew and Natalie are studying in his room, when she tries to make a move on him. He says he’s confused and thought that it was only the two of them hooking up together. She tells him that he’s sweet but “sweet” gets boring after a while.
Joel tucks Sydney into bed and she asks if they can get a pool. He says “no” and Sydney states that her friend Charlotte is getting a pool. Sydney states Charlotte is getting two houses, one with her Dad and one with her Mom. Charlotte is Ed’s daughter.
Ryan talks to Zeek about what is going on. Ryan explains how hard he is trying but that he still feels disconnected between his life in the service and life as a civilian, sometimes wishing for the former. Zeek tells him that it is hard but he has to choose which life he wants to live.
Adam takes some time off to spend with Kristina and they take Nora to the park. A lady walks up and states that she recognizes Kristina from the mayoral race, stating that she would promise her a vote if she could fix the broken slide. Adam and Kristina kind of laugh and Kristina says she actually lost already. The lady, embarrassed that she didn’t even vote, is rude and tells them that she needs to do something about the slide anyway.
Drew talks to Crosby about Natalie. Crosby understands that Drew is really a one-woman guy. Crosby suggests though that he explore the field, have fun because he’s young.
Sarah goes to Carl’s apartment and states that she can’t have sex with him again. He kind of laughs and tries asks why she’s so guarded. She states that she can’t just be sleeping around and needs to focus on herself, and abruptly leaves.
After Julia avoids some texts from Ed, she decides to go over to his house. She tells him, as he’s packing, that he can’t call or text her anymore, that it’s inappropriate. She asks if his marriage falling apart has anything to do with her, and he says no, he has been lost for a long time, and realized being miserable is better than faking being happy. She hugs him saying that she’s sorry he’s going through all this. Ed leans in and they kiss each other. Julia pulls away and rushes out the door.
Drew talks to Natalie and tries to incorporate rules into their friendship-with-benefits. She realizes that they should just be friends, knowing that Drew needs more.
Kristina visits her friend Gwen, who is smoking medicinal marijuana, and they talk about the election, and how close the race was. Kristina states she feels if she had gone negative like Bob Little had, she could have won. Gwen states that next time she’ll win, and that she’s sorry she probably won’t be around to see her win.
Amber tells Sarah about everything that has been going on with Ryan. Amber asks for her advice as a person and as a Mom.
Amber goes home and talks to Ryan, stating that even though she doesn’t understand what he’s been through, or going through, that they can make it work together. She tries to grab his hand but he tells her that he can’t live this life, and that he’s re-enlisted.
Joel and Julia get ready for a date-night, but Julia is still overcome with guilt.
Also on a date-night, Adam takes Julia to face and yell at a Bob Little campaign sign. They throw eggs at the sign and let “Bob” know how they really feel.
Sarah opens her door to a crying Amber, and starts to hug and console her.
There’s a knock on Drew’s dorm room. Drew’s roommate throws a chip at Drew who has headphones on to answer the door, thinking it is Natalie. Drew opens the door and to his surprise it is Amy, his high school girlfriend.
