Following Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson’s comments on homosexuality being a sin, A&E has decided to suspend him from filming.
In a statement, the network revealed they have placed Robertson “under hiatus from filming indefinitely."
In an interview with GQ, Robertson said “homosexual offenders” will not “inherit the kingdom of God.” He also said, “Sin: It's not logical, my man. It's just not logical."
According to CNN, after backlash from GLAAD and the public, A&E said Robertson’s views do not reflect their own.
"We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson's comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty," the statement reads.
"His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely."
Among his supporters are former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin. On her Facebook page, she posted a photo of herself with the Duck Dynasty cast.
“Free speech is an endangered species. Those “intolerants” hatin’ and taking on the Duck Dynasty patriarch for voicing his personal opinion are taking on all of us,” she wrote.
The Robertson family was chosen as one of the 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013, but Phil skipped the interview due to hunting season.
