As teams began this leg, they learned they would have to start it off by eating a cobra at the King Cobra House. The challenge caused concerns for Marie, who doesn’t eat meat, while Amy decided to use the fact that she and Jay had yet to win a leg to motivate her to get through it.
Tim and Marie got lost, showing up long after everyone else had finished, but managed to get through it and follow everyone else to the Kawah Domas Crater, where they encountered a roadblock that would require one member of each team to hard-boil eggs in a steaming volcanic spring. The task took two tries for Jamal, Jay and Travis, while Marie only took one try.
After finishing the roadblock teams encountered a detour. In “Paint Your Partner,” teams would have to make each other up as a traditional Indonesian bride without a mirror, which Jay and Amy, Nicole and Travis and Tim and Marie all chose. In “Turn over a new leaf,” teams had to dress up as local tea workers and search fields for clipping shears.
Leo and Jamal encountered trouble at the fields, and chose to switch to the makeup, but when they arrived and realized they would have to shave off their beards, they decided to head back to the tea leaves again.
Jay and Amy finished first and headed to the Pit Stop, which was at the bottom of Cimahi Waterfall, and required teams to descend a 500-step staircase.
For the first time in the race, Jay and Amy got a first place finish, winning a trip for two to Cancun. A taxi and foot race between Tim and Marie and Travis and Nicole saw Tim and Marie edging past the married doctors for a second place finish. Nicole and Travis were third.
Leo and Jamal finished in fourth, but it was a non-elimination leg.
