The Cleveland Cavaliers have announced that they have decided to suspend center Andrew Bynum indefinitely.
General Manager Chris Grant said on Saturday that Bynum has been suspended for conduct detrimental to the Cavaliers, reports USA Today.
No exact reason has been given in regards to what led to Bynum's suspension as he has started 19 of 24 games this season, where he averaged 8.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in limited minutes.
According to sources who talked to ESPN, the team will be looking to unload Bynum to another team. The team must move him before Jan. 7,otherwise the remainder of his $24 million contract is guaranteed. If no trade partner is found, the team could cut him and would only have to pay $6 million.
Coach Mike Brown avoided directly addressing the issue noting, "I'm worried about the guys in the locker room. It's as simple as that. In our business, there are a lot of ups and a lot of downs throughout the season."
Bynum missed the 2012 season due to knee injuries and has admitted that he is still struggling to adjust to play through continued pain in his knees and moving past the injuries.
