Andrew Lloyd Webber is known for his musicals on stage such as, The Phantom of the Opera and the newly released Stephen Ward.
In a recent interview with the Evening Standard, Lloyd Webber spoke about how the times have changed when it comes to producing a musical because the cost is so high to create a blockbuster production. "“Now we live in a different age of blockbusters, I was lucky to have a couple 25, 30 years ago. It would be very different now," said Webber.
With the cost of musical production rising, Webber said that he didn't think he had enough money to do very many more musicals for the stage, the Telegraph added.
Webber recently enjoyed opening night of his new production Stephen Ward. The show tells the story of Sixties Profumo scandal and Webber thinks this is one of his best shows to date, he explained to The Evening Standard.
Opening night of Stephen Ward was over shadowed when part of the Apollo roof collapsed leaving 80 injured. Webber was the previous owner of the Apollo theater.
