We all know that promotional images in everything from makeup ads to movie posters are, to an extent, digitally stylized to create an ultimately aesthetically pleasing final product. However, it happens all too often that image editors go overboard with Photoshop, giving the pic a fake appearance. This is exactly why Ashley Benson, who plays Hanna Marin on the popular TV show Pretty Little Liars, is unhappy with this season's promo image featuring the show's four main girls. Benson took to Instagram Wednesday to voice her disapproval.
"Saw this floating around....hope it's not the poster. Our faces on this were from 4 years ago....and we all look ridiculous. Way too much photo shop. We all have flaws. No one looks like this. It's not attractive," wrote Benson.
Troian Bellisario, who plays Spencer Hastings on the show, Tweeted that she agreed with her co-star.
Wow @ashbenzo I couldn't agree more. Very cool concept as always. But aren't we attractive enough… http://t.co/uP2C1Eg0wv

Unfortunately for Benson and Bellisario, Cosmopolitan reports that a representative of the ABC Television has confirmed that this is indeed the official artwork. ABC has made no further comment on the issue as of yet.
Ashley Benson may be a Pretty Little Liar on TV, but in real life, she's unafraid to voice her honest opinion, and her fans love her for it. Many have expressed their appreciation on Benson's official Twitter page.
Respect to @AshBenzo for her last Instagram post. Too much Photoshop sets unrealistic expectations for young girls.
