Ben Affleck is gushing about his wife of eight years, Jennifer Garner, in a new interview with Playboy. In the interview, the Oscar winner talks about the ups and downs of his career and how his wife has allowed him reach the level of success he has.

Affleck had just ended his engagement to Jennifer Lopez and Garner had a failed marriage to Scott Foley under her belt, but Affleck said they “fell in love” on the set of their movie Daredevil in 2003.

"I sunk into a morass," he told Playboy of a string of flops in his career. "My wife was definitely around then. Getting to know her, falling in love with her and being connected with her gave me a foundation to reach out and say, 'Okay, I’m going to do Hollywoodland; I’m going to direct Gone Baby Gone.' Those were the steps forward I needed to put positive stuff on the board."

Affleck, who shares three children with Garner – Violet, 7, Seraphina, 4, and Samuel, 21 months - continued, "She is by leaps and bounds the most important person to me in that respect. Over the past 10 years she has allowed me to have a stable home life while accomplishing my professional goals."

Us Weekly notes Affleck said it’s not likely they will ever work together again, and that their roles in Daredevil set the stage for what was to come in their personal lives.

“She won most of the fights in the movie," he said, “which was a pretty good predictor of what would happen down the road -- my wife, holding swords and beating the living sh-t out of me."

Affleck will play Batman in Zach Snyder's upcoming Man of Steel and Garner appears opposite Matthew McConaughey in Dallas Buyers Club.
