Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker is expected to miss the final two games of the regular season.

On Thursday, FOX Sports reported that Welker would miss this Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans while he recovers from the concussion he suffered in Week 14.

According to ESPN, Welker is now expected to be held out of the team's regular-season finale in Oakland as he recovers from two concussions he sustained in a span of three weeks.

In Week 11, the 32-year-old suffered his first of the two concussions against the Kansas City Chiefs. His second came on Dec. 8 against the Tennessee Titans when he was taken off the field after being hit by safety George Wilson.

It’s no surprise that the Broncos want to keep the star wide receiver safe on the sidelines until the postseason begins, but the team is hanging onto the No. 1 seed by a thread. If the Broncos lose another regular-season game, they could fall to the No. 5 seed and will lose home-field advantage.

It also no doubt that quarterback Peyton Manning is missing one of his favorite targets. Last week, the team’s first game without Welker, Denver scored a season-low 20 points in a loss to the San Diego Chargers.
