Hank Moody's antics will be coming to an end after the upcoming seventh season of Showtime's hit program Californication.
Variety has confirmed that the show will end its run after this season. The show, which stars David Duchovny as Moody, during its run earned several Emmy and Golden Globe nominations since debuting in 2007. The X-Files actor won the Golden Globe for best actor for the second season.
In a press release, Showtime's president of Entertainment, David Nevins said, "With its unique blend of lyricism and excess, 'Californication' has been one of our groundbreaking signature series." He added, "We will always be indebted to Tom Kapinos for leading the creative charge on this memorable comedy, and to David Duchovny for making us root for an unapologetic hedonist."
The seventh and final season will give fans 12 episodes to say goodbye as the show gets to finish out its run, featuring all the characters that viewers have come to know, including Karen, Becca, Marcy and Charlie.
For his last season, Moody will become a part of the writer's room for his show Santa Monica Cop, which was supposed to be released as a movie, but never was. He will have to deal with his boss and co-workers as well as seeing the return of an old friend, played by Heather Graham." Stephen Tobolowsky, Rob Lowe, Brandon T. Jackson and others will guest star throughout the season.
