CBS has announced when fans of How I Met Your Mother will finally learn how Ted Mosby meets the mother of his children, as we’ve been waiting for nine years. The network made some scheduling moves, allowing HIMYM to finish its long run in March.
The one-hour HIMYM finale will air on March 31 from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. That will be followed by a new comedy called Friends With Better Lives, an ensemble comedy that features six friends. James Van Der Beek leads the cast, along with model Brooklyn Decker, Zoe Lister-Jones, Majandra Delfino, Kevin Connolly and Rick Donald.
CBS is likely hoping that the HIMYM fans who get a taste of Friends With Better Lives will tune in for the show’s second episode at its regular time on April 7 at 8:30 p.m. That episode will have a Big Bang Theory repeat as a lead-in, which certainly helps.
During these two weeks, 2 Broke Girls will be taking a hiatus, but will return on April 14 at 8 p.m., the earliest the raunchy comedy has ever aired. Mike & Molly will also be back that night, following Mom.
If you are disappointed that HIMYM is ending, don’t worry. CBS greenlit a spin-off called How I Met Your Dad with creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas on board.
