The Fast and the Furious star Paul Walker died in a horrible car crash and explosion in Santa Clarita, California Saturday afternoon.

According to People, a statement about the accident was released by police, reading, "When they arrived, deputies found the vehicle engulfed in flames. The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded, extinguished the fire and subsequently located two victims inside the vehicle. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene."

"This is an ongoing investigation," said Deputy Heischuber of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. "A solo car crash occurred about 3:30 p.m. in the city of Santa Clarita, on the outskirts of Valencia. A 911 call came in from a bystander."

The actor was attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide with a friend who was driving. Both men died in the terrible car accident, which authorities believe was brought on by speed.

After the news hit, #rippaulwalker began trending on Twitter as fans, celebrities and people across the nation expressed their sympathies over Walker's death.

Actress Alyssa Milano could hardly believe the news, and later tweeted a reminder for people to appreciate what they have. Actor Michael B. Jordan, singer Ariana Grande and singer Christina Perri also tweeted about the importance of not taking life for granted.

Choreographer, producer and director Adam Shankman tweeted about the loss of a good friend and later posted a photo of him and Walker.

Talk show host Carson Daly, actress Gabrielle Union, actress Busy Phillips and actress Goldie Hawn dedicated their prayers to Walker and his family.

Walker's co-star on The Skulls, Hill Harper, along with actress Olivia Wilde and rapper Ludacris commented on Walker's infectious personality and great heart.
