The Cleveland Cavaliers have suspended former All-Star Andrew Bynum indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team.
Bynum has a two-year contract with the Cavaliers that is worth $24.8 million. He is only guaranteed $6 million of the $12.2 million that he's due this season if he's waived before January 7, according to Yahoo Sports. Bynum could try to get a buyout from the Cavaliers and sign with another team for the veterans minimum if he gets waived.
Bynum hasn’t been perfoming that great and seems uninterested to play. This year in 24 games he is averaging 8.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, according to the Associated Press. He had just four points and one rebound in Thursday's game.
Bynum could have been a distraction to the team and the team was worried about his attitue in recent weeks.
"That's just kind of how people are sometimes," Cavaliers guard Jarrett Jack told the AP."People like to march to the beat of their own drum. That's not saying you're a bad guy, that's just how you are. I thought we actually had a good relationship with him. He wasn't somebody that was reluctant to speak to people. I thought we had a decent bit of camaraderie and hopefully this will pass and be over and we'll be back at full strength soon."
If the Cavaliers get back to full strenght soon, it will be without Bynum ,who the Cavaliers are looking to trade. Bynum won two championships with the Los Angeles Lakers, but missed all of last season due to bad knees.
The Cavaliers are currently 10-18 and will be moving on without Bynum, at least for now.
