The legalization of marijuana use goes into effect in the state of Colorado on Jan. 1st. Colorado’s ski resorts are bracing for an onslaught of marijuana smokers on the slopes as weed ski trips are already being offered by travel agencies and other companies.
Huffington Post is reporting that ski resort authorities are worried about the negative impact legalized marijuana will have on the industry. Everything from potential safety hazards on the slopes to what if any impact it will have on the industry is being considered. Of great concern is that a large amount of high ski patrons may keep away families. Cigarette smoking is already banned from the lifts and slopes and so will marijuana use. Resort authorities are increasing patrols in these areas.
According to Fox News, travel agencies and other groups are already organizing marijuana ski tours which include transportation and shopping at a legalized marijuana stores. Ski resort officials are hoping that these smokers will be happy to hang out in cabins and not on the slopes.
