When X Factor ran a segment joking about judge Demi Lovato annoying Simon Cowell all season and drinking “Annoying Juice,” she was visibly angry. While the clip ran, all it looked like was a digitally edited drink that could’ve been confused with alcohol. This upset Lovato because of her past struggles with drug and alcohol abuse.
When it was revealed not to be alcohol and rather a pretend liquid, Lovato was seen sitting at the judges table mouthing to Kelly Rowland “That was f**ked up.”
When host Mario Lopez prompted a response out of Lovato, she forced a PG answer, smiling and saying, “I think it’s very, very clear since I don’t drink anymore ‘Annoying Juice’ has become my new drink and I love it because I get to annoy Simon with it,” Gossip Cop reports.
Lovato recently opened up about how bad her drug abuse had gotten at the peak of her addiction, saying “Something I’ve never talked about before, but with my drug use I could hide it to where I would sneak drugs. I couldn’t go without 30 minutes to an hour without cocaine and I would bring it on airplanes.”
She also talked about boarding a plane with a water bottle filled with vodka. “I think at 19 years old, I had a moment where I was like, ‘Oh my God… that is alcoholic behavior,” she said. “[It’s] no longer, I’m young and rebellious and out having fun, it was, wow, I’m one of those people…I gotta get my s*** together.’”
