Demi Lovato speaks out about her past drug use and her addiction to cocaine in a recent interview. The 21-year-old star told Access Hollywood she hit rock bottom at only 19 years old.
Lovato even recounted in her interview that her problem was so bad she couldn’t even go an hour without her drugs, according to Fox News. “Something I’ve never talked about before, but with my drug use I could hide it to where I would sneak drugs. I couldn’t go without 30 minutes to an hour without cocaine and I would bring it on airplanes,” she revealed. She also revealed she was able to hide her drugs from everyone around her, including her “sober companion” who kept an eye on her 24/7.
Lovato came to her senses at 19, when she was boarding a plane back to LA, with a soda bottle filled with vodka in hand. “I think at 19 years old, I had a moment where I was like, ‘Oh my God… that is alcoholic behavior. [It’s] no longer, I’m young and rebellious and out having fun, it was, wow, I’m one of those people…I gotta get my s*** together.’”
Lovato attended rehab in 2010 and since then is doing much better now and connecting with her family.
