The Disney Channel has ordered an original TV movie called Descendants, which will focus on the children of some of the company's greatest villains. High School Musical's director Kenny Ortega is at the helm.

The plan is for production to begin this spring and be done in time for a 2015 premiere, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie will follow the teen offspring of Disney's villains who begin to question the evil of their families.

The movie will take place in the present day, of sorts, with the son of Beauty and the Beast's Belle and Beast preparing to take the throne. He offers redemption for the children of the kingdom's villains, Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, the Evil Queen and Jafar. Up until now, Carlos, Mal, Evvie and Jay have been kept on a forbidden island with others of their ilk.

Once at the prep school in the kingdom, the four teens have to decide whether or not they will be good or try and help their evil parents take over the kingdom.

TheWrap reports that in a statement, Disney Channels Worldwide's president and chief creative officer, Gary Marsh, said, "We mined Disney's treasure trove of stories and developed a new, comedic approach to the fabled characters everyone knows and loves."

The site notes that Disney Channel's original movies do well for the cable network as many are in the top spots for total viewership.
