La Bamba actor Esai Morales has joined the cast of HBO's comedy pilot The Brink as a series regular.
According to Deadline, who exclusively reported the news, Morales has been cast as Julian Navarro, who happens to be the President of the United States.
The Hispanic actor recently co-starred on Starz's Magic City, regularly appears on Criminal Minds and appeared on La Vida Robot in a guest star role. He also appeared in the Battlestar Galactica series Caprica as Joseph Adama opposite Eric Stoltz.
Jay Roach directed the pilot based off the script written by Roberto Benabib and Kim Benabib. Jerry Weintraub is executive producing.
As previously reported, Tim Robbins and Jack Black were also cast as the other two main roles on the HBO comedy pilot.
Darkly comic The Brink follows the stories of three men during a geopolitical crisis and how it affects them. Robbins was cast as the U.S. Secretary of State and Black will play a Foreign Service officer.
