Ever since I was a little girl I have been fascinated with magic. I had a Fisher Price magic kit and even dressed up as a magician one Halloween. So, I was thrilled to be given the chance to see the longest running off- Broadway magic show in New York City, Monday Night Magic.
The show is held every Monday night at the old and intimate Players Theater on MacDougal Street in Greenwich Village.
Each show has a Master of Ceremonies with three main stage acts. There is also close-up magic during intermission, so the magic is non-stop.
The acts range from juggling to card tricks, to classic illusions, each filled with humor and wonder for all ages.
For over 15 years, this hidden gem has hosted packed houses known mostly by word of mouth. Michael Chaut, Frank Brents, Todd Robbins, Peter Samelson, and Jamy Ian Swiss are the talented producers and professional magicians behind the magic.
I had the pleasure of experiencing close-up magic with Michael Chaut himself during intermission. I still don’t know how a card I selected from the deck reappeared on the ceiling. Being so close to the magic manages to fill you with even greater awe since it is literally right before your eyes.
The MC David Corsaro was charming and entertaining. Will Shaw who performed the evening of my visit, was humorous and juggled with ease. Ran’D Shine, popular among the college circuit, pulled off some impressive card tricks. They saved the best for last with the final illusionist, Peter Samelson. Samelson, one of the producers, filled the audience with wonder with various tricks.
Hollywood Pop, a full-service event and party planning company, are the creative directors behind this production and other exciting private and corporate events.
If you are looking for something fun to do with the family or a unique date night, pay a visit to Monday Night Magic and experience the wonder for yourself.
