Family Ties star Meredith Baxter has married longtime girlfriend Nancy Locke in Los Angeles on Sunday. They exchanged their own personal vows to each other in an intimate ceremony.
Baxter’s five children and a bevy of close family and friends watched on as the partners of seven years tied the knot.
"Now I understand why marriage caught on!" Baxter, 66, told People after the wedding.
Baxter has been married three times before, each time to a man. She was previously married to Robert Lewis Bush, David Birney and Michael Blodgett, and she came out as gay in 2009.
She said at the time on the Today Show, "I got involved with someone I never expected to get involved with, and it was that kind of awakening. I never fought it because it was like, 'Oh, I understand why I had the issues I had early in life.' I had a great deal of difficulty connecting with men in relationships."
E! Online notes she also revealed her oldest son admitted he already knew when she told him. "The support from my family and anyone close to me has been so immediate and unqualified. I've really been blessed,” she said.
