Race car driver Michael Schumacher remains in critical health after a skiing accident last Sunday in the French Alps.

"We cannot predict the future for Michael Schumacher,” said Chief anesthesiologist Dr. Jen-Francois Payen, according to the Associated Press.

The 44 year-old Formula One race car driver has over 91 race wins since he began his career in 1991. He has won seven world titles, and has driven for Ferrari and Mercedes. Like many Formula One drivers, he was known to be fearless.

Schumacher was skiing with his son in a French Resort. After falling on rocks, Schumacher suffered severe head trauma and was taken to the University Hospital Center of Grenoble. Schumacher fell into a coma had emergency brain surgery.

According to CNN, the skiing accident happened Sunday morning between Georges Bauduis Piste and La Biche Piste in the French Alpine resort of Meribel. He was surrounded by his wife and family members who were in shock. A French prosecutor has opened an investigation looking into the cause of the accident.
