KISS guitarist Ace Frehley’s New York-area home burned down on Saturday morning around 11. The Yorktown Heights fire department as well as a volunteer ambulance crew reported to the scene right away.

The home has few windows, making it a difficult fire to put out. The cause of the fire isn’t known yet and no one was home at the time it started.

We got to the scene and found heavy smoke showing from the roof line of the building,” Fire Chief Chet Swirski told Journal News.

Frehley doesn’t appear to live in the home, but he does own it although reports say he’s been fighting foreclosure on it. A man claiming to live in it returned to the scene of the fire after firefighters got there.

TIME reports neighbors say a caretaker lives at the home and the Red Cross helped him find an alternate place to live.

Frehley last played with KISS in 2002 on what they called their farewell tour.
