The History channel and Halle Berry are teamed up to develop a miniseries that will focus on general Hannibal Barca in the Second Punic war.
Oscar nominated writer Jeffrey Caine will write the script, Berry will serve as an executive producer on the show. The upcoming series will also be co-production by A+E Studios and Red Arrow Entertainment, Variety added.
Berry released a statement regarding about the upcoming project. Explaining her passion behind working on this miniseries. "Hannibal was not only the greatest African general to ever live, he may have been the greatest general, period. His story is an intricate and captivating ride and I’m thrilled to get this project off the ground with our partners at History,” said Berry.
The Hollywood Reporter that the show will take place in Carthage, 246 BC, at the beginning of his life in North Africa the show will tell his story through the second Punic War.
If the show will be picked up by the History channel this would be the cable’s latest foray into scripted TV. The channel had great success with The Bible and Hatfields & McCoys.
