Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs are ending their 10 year long marriage.
A publicist for the couple announced the spilt Thursday. They were married in 2003 after meeting on off-Broadway show Rent seven years prior.
According to People, the rep for the couple said in a statement, “Their primary focus and concern is for their son. We ask that you respect their privacy during this time.”
Menzel and Diggs welcomed son Walker in 2009 and Diggs found fatherhood an exciting and transformative experience. “I’m such a proud father that I’m like, ‘Good for you! Good for you little man!” he told People.
Earlier this year, Menzel, 42, said that their marriage took work, according to ABC News. “I’m not going to glamorize it or glorify it. We go through tough times like everybody else, but we love each other very much,” she said. “We try not to be away from each other for more than two weeks at a time, and we try to find new ways to communicate.”
