Supernatural is currently on a midseason break and fans are still freaking out over the death of a beloved character in the midseason finale. Jeremy Carver is letting fans know what to expect when the show returns.
Entertainment Weekly spoke to Carver and of course they asked the question we’ve all wanted the answer to: is Kevin Tran gone for good? Supernatural does have a way of bringing back characters from the dead and although Carver said that this is goodbye to Kevin, there is a possibility of Kevin’s return if it fits into the story line.
The executive producer also spoke about Dean’s has two big decisions this season. He first was convincing Sam not to close the gates of Hell. The second tricking Sam into letting in Ezekiel, who we now know wasn’t the best idea since the angel was really Gadreel. Of course Dean is going to do whatever it takes to get his little brother back, even if it means making alliances with some unlikely people.
Carver explained that Dean will be blaming himself for Kevin’s death, “And I think we’ll find him struggling with this for quite a few episodes. Now, I think things get serious, tense, sad and people get angry. But I don’t think in any shape or form that things get mired in sadness.” Carver has stated that this will not be the main focus of any of the episodes. Honestly no one wants to watch Dean sit and cry in the Impala. “The last thing we’re going to do is, whether he wants to or not, no one is going to get a chance to drown his sorrows.”
According to the Examiner, fans are going to discover a lot more about the angel Gadreel and what exactly is going on in the character’s head. And since we’re on the topic of angels, Castiel has gotten back his powers bby stealing another angel’s grace. Now Cas will have to find his place in the battle of the angels and make some really tough decisions.
And of course there will be some really great stand alone episodes to give us a break from angels killing each other. We’ll get to meet new characters as well as see some familiar faces. One example is Dean coming across Cain (guest star Tim Omundson) which will reportedly have a huge impact on the rest of the season. Fan favorite, The Ghostfacers, will also be returning guaranteeing fans a fun episode.
Supernatural returns Jan. 14.
