At the premiere of Saving Mr. Banks, Julie Andrews was asked about The Sound of Music Live! and she admitted she hadn't seen it yet.
"Alas, I did not (See it). I had a speaking engagement and I couldn't. But my kids did record it. I'll get around to it," Andrews said. She was attending the U.S. premiere on Monday night, The Associated Press reports.
Andrews was at the premiere as she played Mary Poppins, which is a central plot of Saving Mr. Banks, which looks at the fight between Walt Disney and author P.L. Travers over adapting Mary Poppins to film. Travers relents, but during an agreed viewing of the treatment, isn't happy with casting, especially of Dick Van Dyke.
Dyke was also at the premiere and noted something not mentioned in the film, "she wasn't thrilled with Julie, either." He added, "She wanted a dumpy little Marry Poppins. She didn't want a pretty girl. So, she didn't like either of us."
While, Andrews might have missed the show, 18.5 million tuned in on Dec. 5 to watch the live three-hour broadcast. Despite criticisms levied towards lead Carrie Underwood, Sound of Music managed a 4.3 in the demographic, though managed a high of 5.0 at one point.
