Lea Michele is opening up about the death of her boyfriend, Cory Monteith, who she co-starred with on the hit Fox show Glee, while on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

In her first sit-down interview since his shocking death back in July, Michele said she’s getting through this difficult time with the support of friends and family.

"It's certainly been a pretty rough year, but I've been surrounded by such great people, such great family," she explained, E! Online reports. Her parents have even moved from New York to Los Angeles to be with her.

She admitted it’s been tough with the paparazzi following her every move since his death, saying "If you smile it's like, ‘She's so happy!' and if you look sad, they're like, ‘She's terrible.' It's just really hard."

It’s been four months and Michele said she’s "still trying to figure out all of this,” adding it’s a choice to “fall” or to “rise.”

The “Cannonball” singer also talked about staying at Kate Hudson’s home after her loss, calling it a “safe place” she could be until it was time for her to go back to work.
