Mandy Patinkin stopped by Live! With Kelly and Michael on Thursday looking much different than usual.

The Homeland actor, who portrays Saul Berenson, the bearded CIA Acting Director on the Showtime political thriller series, looked almost unrecognizable when he visited the show studio with a clean-shaven face.

"I shaved it the minute I finished the last shot," Patinkin said to the show’s hosts.

"I felt like I was taking off a Mickey Mouse mask."

While playing opposite Claire Danes and Damian Lewis on Homeland, Patinkin had to sport his famous beard for two years and said he "couldn't take it off," according to New York Daily News.

After finally shaving it, the actor said he "felt about 20 years younger."

Losing the beard did come with some disadvantages though.

"The thing I loved most about it is once the show got more and more successful, wherever I go people would go, 'Saul, Saul!' I'd be in an airport in a foreign country and people would say, 'Sa-ul, Sa-ul!' And I took it off and, like, nobody knew me," Patinkin said. "This is what real life is like."

But Patinkin’s beard won’t be gone for good.

According to Us Weekly, Showtime has renewed Homeland for a fourth season, which is slated to air next year.
