Mark Wahlberg is coming clean and discussing his feud that he had with Leonardo DiCaprio in the 90s, along with a few other confessions that will be featured in the December issue of The Hollywood Reporter.
Wahlberg spoke to the Hollywood Reporter and explained that he almost did not get cast in the 1995 film, Basketball Diaries, because he had been incredibly rude to the now Wolf of Wall Street.
Wahlberg explained that DiCaprio had strong feelings regarding Wahlberg being in the film and over his dead body could Wahlberg join the cast. The Pain & Gain star admits that this was warranted by DiCaprio. Turns out that at a charity basketball game Wahlberg had been overly rude to the A-list actor.
With the help of casting director Avy Kaufman, who encouraged DiCaprio to read with Wahlberg, the Titanic star had a change of heart, E! Online added.
Ever since the read through for Basketball Diaries DiCaprio and Wahlberg have become fast friends.
Wahlberg continued with his confessions also admitted that he lost out to Bradley Cooper for the male lead in Silver Linings Playbook, directed by David O. Russell.
Wahlberg had worked with Russell on The Fighter which he stared in and helped to produce. "We did have a little bit of a parting of the ways, I was upset for a while. I'm not anymore,” said Wahlberg.
Wahlberg will be seen next in the upcoming fourth installment of the Transformers franchise.
